The International Cocoa Initiative was established in 2002 ‘to oversee and sustain efforts to eliminate the worst forms of child labor and forced labor in the growing and processing of cocoa beans and their derivative products’.

Stakeholders involved are governments, industry, cocoa producers, labor organizations and NGOs. ICI is funded by its industry members.
